ES&H Safety Specialist
Wackenhut Services, Inc., (WSI) security contractor to the Department of Energy at the Nevada Test Site (NTS), is seeking a qualified Environment, Safety & Health Specialist. This position is responsible for planning, developing, implementing and maintaining the various programs necessary to maintain a safe and healthy environment for WSI employees, the public and the environment; and ensuring that WSI/NV operations are in compliance with applicable Environment, Health and Safety regulations, policies, DOE and NNSA/NSO orders and directives. Responsibilities include liaison with regulatory personnel to assure compliance with current legislation, regulations and policies. Will assist the ES&H Manager in conducting inspections, assessments, appraisals, surveys and accident investigations, and developing new ideas and approaches to stimulate safety awareness. The NTS is located approximately 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
BS or BA degree from a recognized college/university or equivalent combination of training and experience. A minimum of three years experience in the ES&H field and demonstrated skills in investigative and report writing techniques, as well as the ability to adapt practices, procedures and techniques to the special requirements of WSI, the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Recognized certification as a safety professional preferred.
WSI is a DOE Contractor. Candidate must have a background which would not preclude a security clearance being granted. In order to obtain a clearance, candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
