ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN


Wackenhut Services, Inc., (WSI) security contractor to the Department of Energy at the Nevada Test Site (NTS), is seeking a qualified Electronic Technician. This position is responsible for providing technical support to customers of the Electronic Systems Section (ESS) to include providing maintenance, operation, fabrication, modification and installation of various security related electronic equipment such as automated access control systems, intrusion alarm systems, radar equipment, CCTV equipment, motion detectors, public address, intercoms, special-built security related equipment and computer related reporting systems. The NTS is located approximately 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas

Requirements: :
  • AA degree in electronics from an accredited school; OR
  • Two years military or accredited commercial training specializing in electronics; OR
  • At least one approved specialized certification (e.g., A+, Network+, MCSE, FCC General Class Commercial License, ISCET Associate) and at least 1 year of practical electronic equipment experience; OR
  • At least 2 years practical experience working electronic equipment.
  • Additional requirements:
    This position may be assigned to work the night shift based on operational requirements (once trained, clearance and HRP certification received). If the position is assigned to day shift, applicant must be willing to accept occasional night-shift assignments and off-duty call-outs. In addition, requirements include the ability to climb and work off ladders, bend, stoop and crawl around equipment and vehicles, and lift equipment weighing up to 50lbs. Must perform outside work in various types of weather conditions and work near equipment and facilities containing explosives and special materials. Must participate in National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Human Reliability Program (HRP). Must have basic computer skills and good oral and written communication skills.

    WSI is a DOE Contractor. Candidate must have a background which would not preclude a security clearance being granted. In order to obtain a clearance, candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
