Chenega Security & Protection Services (CSPS)/Wackenhut Services
Incorporated Team Wins Major Army Contract
SEIU criticized for misleading public as WSI announces winning contract
to protect Army bases in Western region
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Florida - Jan.8 - Wackenhut Services Incorporated (WSI) President, Dave Foley, today announced that the Chenega Security & Protection Services LLC/ WSI team recently won a major contract to protect U.S. Army bases in the Western United States.
"WSI is pleased to continue our long and successful tenure providing high-level professional security services to the U.S. Army. We are looking forward to a productive partnership with CSPS, a highly qualified Alaska Native Corporation. We are in the process of transitioning operations from the Northeast region to bases in the Western Region. We look forward to getting involved in our new communities, where the team will be filling more than 300 jobs," Foley said.
The contract is a one year contract with four, one year options, worth over $10 million annually. WSI will provide protective forces specifically trained to guard secure government facilities. The contract covers Ft. Carson, Colo., location of the 10th Special Forces; Ft. Huachuca, Ariz., home of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center and School; Yuma, Ariz. Proving Grounds; White Sands, N.M. Missile Range; and the Dugway Proving Grounds and Tooele Army Depot in Utah.
"In addition to winning this contract, WSI believes the WSI/CSPS team is a strong contender for additional awards when the Army announces the results of the full and open competition for security at an additional 31 Army Installations divided into three regions. We look forward to the announcement of the remainder of the awards," Foley said.
While announcing the new contract award, Foley also addressed the on-going "corporate campaign" waged by Service Employee’s International Union (SEIU) against WSI. He said, "SEIU has once again completely misrepresented the facts about the Army contract in an attempt to mislead the public. This is part of a perpetual campaign designed to destroy our company’s reputation for their own political gain. WSI will continue to fight SEIU on this issue and stand up for the rights of our employees to choose their own union."
